Curated and designed with a group of Artist and Educator, this 'Creating Senses' exhibition was carefully created for children to establish a deeper connection with abstract artworks.
It started with the question; why are kids not in museum?
Through research, we decided on the participatory method as our primary strategy. Because art is inherently sensorial, we must utilise many senses to simultaneously to experience an artwork. We aimed to stimulate the multi-sensory as a tool to evoke children's wild imagination. They were encouraged to interpret the abstract paintings of Jeremy Gardiner by touching, smelling, hearing and seeing. With these activities, children were invited to question, reflect and create based on their personal insights of the artwork and experiences.
